Markus M. Jessberger appointed as new Event Director

Markus M. Jessberger (47) will be new Event Director of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH. He succeeds Britta Wirtz who will join Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress GmbH to take up the position of management spokesperson. Jessberger, who was born in Nuremberg, will assume the overall management of the ALUMINIUM, COMPOSITES EUROPE, SHOWTECH and MODERNER STAAT fairs.

5 Awards and 2 Special Prizes are given by the Jury of the 2008 European Aluminium Award competition for Industrial Design & Engineering.
48 companies with an innovative product that incorporates aluminium were taking part in this year’s European Aluminium Award. 30 entries were nominated in 5 categories. The Awards were handed out at the Award Gala during the International World Trade Fair ALUMINIUM 2008, which was held from 23-25 September in Essen.

ESSEN. It shone and posted new records: Hans-Joachim Erbel, the Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH, had every reason to smile. That’s because the outcome, that he was able to present, of this year’s ALUMINIUM was exceptional even for trade fair organisers who are used to success. With a 27 per cent increase in the number of exhibitors, an increase in area of 15 per cent and an almost ten per cent increase in visitor numbers, ALUMINIUM achieved double-digit growth rates for the seventh time in succession. “As a result, ALUMINIUM is the most successful new industrial trade fair to have come to the market worldwide since the end of the 1990’s,“ stated Hans-Joachim Erbel on Thursday in Essen.

The worldwide demand for aluminium and aluminium products has steadily risen over the past few years, with production figures for primary aluminium and semi-finished products showing a marked upward trend. This boom is also reflected at ALUMINIUM 2008, the biggest fair of the aluminium industry worldwide which will take place from 23 to 25 September in Essen. 840 companies from 41 countries will present themselves in the Essen exhibition halls – which means an increase of 19 percent compared to the previous event two years ago. ALUMINIUM thus once again tops all previous records in exhibitor numbers and exhibition area. This year the fair will occupy 55,000 sqm in eight halls.

Every two years, the aluminium industry presents the European Aluminium Award to honour the best new developments in the industry. At this year’s ALUMINIUM 2008, the award will be presented for the sixth time already. The European Aluminium Award “Industrial Design & Engineering“ is the leading international prize in the aluminium industry. The competition is organised by the Aluminium Centrum (Houten) in cooperation with EAA (European Aluminium Association), GDA (Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie) and ALUMINIUM 2008. Demand for stand space at ALUMINIUM 2008 (23 - 25 September in Essen, Germany) is exceeding all expectations: one year before the fair is due to start, 498 exhibitors from 39 nations have already registered for participation. This gives ALUMINIUM a good chance of reaching new exhibitor records in 2008. Demand is particularly high for stand space on the theme pavilions which will be extended considerably for the coming event, both in terms of size and equipment.
