The worldwide demand for aluminium and aluminium products has steadily risen over the past few years, with production figures for primary aluminium and semi-finished products showing a marked upward trend. This boom is also reflected at ALUMINIUM 2008, the biggest fair of the aluminium industry worldwide which will take place from 23 to 25 September in Essen. 840 companies from 41 countries will present themselves in the Essen exhibition halls – which means an increase of 19 percent compared to the previous event two years ago. ALUMINIUM thus once again tops all previous records in exhibitor numbers and exhibition area. This year the fair will occupy 55,000 sqm in eight halls.
Firmly in the driving seat as Asia’s No.1 aluminium industry event, ALUMINIUM CHINA 2008 came to a successful close in Guangzhou on the 30th May welcoming a total of 6744 professional visitors. Set in the heart of the major aluminium processing and application centre in China, the fourth edition of this well known market shaping event established a firm foothold in the highly important South China market with this first appearance in the superb China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex.
After China, India and Brazil, ALUMINIUM will also enter the market in Dubai with an event of its own from 2009 onwards. Building on ALUMEX, hitherto the biggest fair for the industry in the Middle East, ALUMINIUM DUBAI will concentrate on the dynamic prospects of the aluminium industry in the region with an improved concept, bringing together global suppliers of products and technologies with international purchasers and regional investors.
The first ALUMINIUM INDIA in Mumbai was a success. From 22 to 24 February, 124 international exhibitors showed their products and innovations around the material aluminium. With 1,670 trade visitors, the premiere of ALUMINIUM INDIA fully met expectations.
Every two years, the aluminium industry presents the European Aluminium Award to honour the best new developments in the industry. At this year’s ALUMINIUM 2008, the award will be presented for the sixth time already. The European Aluminium Award “Industrial Design & Engineering“ is the leading international prize in the aluminium industry. The competition is organised by the Aluminium Centrum (Houten) in cooperation with EAA (European Aluminium Association), GDA (Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie) and ALUMINIUM 2008. This year, the award is sponsored by the industry leaders ALCAN, ALCOA and HYDRO.
“Aluminium India 2008”, scheduled for February 2008 in Mumbai has moved into the fast track with 50 multinational Aluminium giants confirming participation. The conference-cum-exhibition acquires special significance at this time as India, the ninth largest economy in the world, is poised to join the elite superpowers. Manufacturing plays a critical role in this transformation. And India’s rich mineral resources of several primary metals, accelerates the growth.
From the 28th – 30th August, ALUMINIUM CHINA 2007 opened its doors for the 3rd time in history to 8409 professional visitors and buyers along with over 4000 exhibiting professionals arriving from a total of 91 countries across the globe and the length and breadth of China. At this year’s largest aluminium industry trading and networking event organized by Reed Exhibitions, industry elites from the aluminium industry and its major application fields have gathered in shanghai for 3 packed days of trading and networking action focused on the Asia region. Demand for stand space at ALUMINIUM 2008 (23 - 25 September in Essen, Germany) is exceeding all expectations: one year before the fair is due to start, 498 exhibitors from 39 nations have already registered for participation. This gives ALUMINIUM a good chance of reaching new exhibitor records in 2008. Demand is particularly high for stand space on the theme pavilions which will be extended considerably for the coming event, both in terms of size and equipment.

Essen. Sunny, almost overheating due to a stable high-pressure zone: the weather during this year’s ALUMINIUM almost seemed symbolic for the aluminium industry which showed itself in the best of spirits at the 6th World Fair and exceeded all previous records with healthy two-digit growth figures. “ALUMINIUM is humming so busily you can feel the buzz in every hall“, is how ALUMINIUM manager Britta Wirtz, Director with the organizers Reed Exhibitions, happily sums up the atmosphere during the three days of the fair.
