The use of energy for aluminium primary production is very high, but since aluminium began to be produced on a commercial scale, there has been a continual improvement in the energy efficiency of the process. Whereas a few decades ago 21 kilowatt hours of electricity were still being used to produce primary aluminium, the average figure today is about 15 kWh/kg  –  an energy saving of almost 30%.

As a consequence, the energy industry becomes the lifelong partner of the aluminium industry, and what could be more natural than a joint presentation by the two? For the first time at ALUMINIUM a pavilion is dedicated to this subject.
