Conference feedback and results

From 22nd to 24th of May almost 3.500 people participated, at the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes, in São Paulo, Brazil, in the main events of the aluminum industry – the III International Aluminum Congress and the ExpoAlumínio 2007. Among the public, many personalities of the international industry, Brazilian and foreign researchers, internationals keynotes speakers, students and teachers, professionals of the entire supply chain and press representatives.

On the official Congress opening ceremony with a presence of more than 400 attendees, the entrepreneur Antônio Ermírio de Moraes, Chief Executive Officer of Companhia Brasileira de Aluminio (CBA) the biggest primary aluminum producer of Brazil was honoured with the title of "First Emeritus President" of the Brazilian Aluminum Association. At the occasion, Luis Carlos Loureiro Filho, ABAL’s president, and José Antonio Martins, vice president of the board of directors of  Marcopolo S.A., the biggest busses fabricator of Brazil, discoursed respectively about the importance of the aluminum sector to the development of the Brazil and the challenges of the Brazilian aluminum industry.

The participation of 600 delegates – Brazilian and foreigners – brought to the Congress a panorama of the main innovations developed by companies and universities in the fields of reduction, technological innovations, processes and products, casting, refractories, sustainable development and recycling. Almost 100 papers were presented in several technical sessions.

The ExpoAlumínio 2007 – International Aluminum Exhibition received the visit of nearly 3.500 people that circulated among the 83 booths distributed on the 5.800 sqm of the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes. The ones that participated of the trade show could have the opportunity to familiarize with the novelties in products and services offered by companies of the sector, from Brazil and abroad.

The international participation has been another evidence of the success of the event. In this edition, the partnership with Reed Exhibitions – considered the main international trade shows and events promoter and organizer – has elevated the number of exhibitors from abroad in 30%, compared to the previous edition, and provided a wider vision about the different business opportunities within the global market.
